That Train

That train used to stop at the station
Twice daily, some days even four
Bringing strangers, friends and relations
But that train don't come around here no more
That train must have been some sort of life-line
This town was so alive before
But that vein was cut, and this town slowly died
'Cause that train don't come around here no more
Now there's trees and grass
Growing through the railroad tracks
There's rust on the rails and the trestle is falling down
The station's in disrepair
No one's left in the town to care
'Cause that train don't come around here no more
That train has left this place a ghost town
Some folks swear they still hear the whistle blow
But everybody knows they've heard no sound
'Cause that train don't come around here no more
Now there's trees and grass
Growing through the railroad tracks
There's rust on the rails and the trestle is falling down
The station's in disrepair
No one's left in the town to care
'Cause that train don't come around here no more
That train used to stop at the station
Twice daily, some days even four
Bringing strangers, friends and relations
But that train don't come around here no more
