Everybody Was Hangin' Out

I went to a party late last night, everybody who was anybody was there
A tiny little bungalow packed so tight, you had to fight just to get some air
When I walked through the door I couldn't believe my eyes
Cleopatra and Nefertitti cried out "surprise!"
Julius Caesar passed me a bottle
And I shared a drink with Plato and Aristotle
Everybody was hangin' out, Everybody was hangin' out
Everybody who was anybody was in that tiny house
Everybody was hangin' out
As I fought my way through the tight party crowd
I recognized people I have never seen before
from the back room, the music was getting loud
I had to get back there to find out a little more
The Count and Duke were banging the eighty-eights
Ella was scattin' and Bing singin' bass
Satchmo and Pres were tradin' fours
While Fred and Ginger were cuttin' up the floor
Everybody was hangin' out, Everybody was hangin' out
Everybody who was anybody was in that tiny house
Everybody was hangin' out
The sun came up as the party wound down,
Yeah it seemed like a good time to go
Amazed by all the famous faces as I stepped through the crowd
They were passed out everywhere on the floor
There was Betty Grable and Clark Gable, Annie Oakley and Edgar Allen Poe
That looks like Ghandi with Mata Hari, Pablo Picasso and Greta Garbo
Pocohantas and Chief Crazy Horse, Leonardo and Michaelangelo
Joan of Arc with Napoleon Bonaparte, Al Capone and Marilyn Monroe
Everybody was hangin' out, Everybody was hangin' out
Everybody who was anybody was in that tiny house
Everybody was hangin' out
